A group of 21 teenagers have taken action in a landmark lawsuit against the US Federal Government for their inaction in violation of their right to life, property and liberty to protect the future generations from climate change.
The plaintiffs from Oregon District are arguing that the U.S. Government and also Environmental Protection Agency have, by their controversial support of fossil fuels, intensified global warming within their community affecting both their health and economic losses either directly to their property.
They are requiring a recognition that the current generation has the same constitutional right to freedom to protect the atmosphere and climate system. Also, that the future generations are given a livable climate system over the short term economic interest for now.
