Overburdened childhood leads to insensitive parenting.
A study by Michigan State University Scholar reveals that kids who are not overburdened in their childhood make better parents.
Mother’s who were imposed caretaking roles as a child, tend to be insensitive to their children’s needs as a parent. These parents fail to understand appropriate parenting and raise their kids in a harmful manner.
Author Amy K. Nuttall says, if you were expected to over perform as a child, you fail to develop a sense of self identity which leads to confusion about expectations of children and their developmental limitations.
Parenting classes could be particularly beneficial for such parents.
The study can now be found online in advance of print publication in the Journal of Family Psychology.
