New Year: What You Expect And What You Get?
New Year: What You Expect And What You Get?
I so wished that everything I ever imagined about the special dates could be true, life would have been so Disney but then life is never what they show on television. Although, I realized it quite late (thanks to Yash Raj movies and Disney) there are still a lot of girls out there who plan in their heads a lot of things about how they would spend their new year’s eve but what happens in reality is not comparable to the expectations:
WE GONNA GO PARTY!!!: Obviously it’s a new year and we all want to enjoy it like others who do- get a partner for the party, dress-up well, go to a pub, get drunk, dance like crazy, make weird friends or even lose a friend in the crowd, do the loudest countdown ever and what not!
But what we end up doing: Sitting on the couch or rather lying on the couch with our parents, eating same routine food, watching the same daily soap, ignoring Facebook or WhatsApp since your friend’s pictures would bother you to the core and all that makes the evening a little better is a cake which your father gets to welcome the New Year.
THE PARTY: So even if you manage to get out of your place and celebrate your new year either with friends or go out with boyfriend, not to a club but to a house party, there are a lot of things that would disappoint you:
– Like I earlier said, if you are influenced with Disney movies or Bollywood movies- you would get your hair done, get the best out-fit out, new heels, best junk jewelry, all prettied up, but the moment you reach the party you see people in pajamas, throwing food here and there, boozing and staring at you because you stand out the crowd.
– You plan to go out with your boyfriend on a dinner date, everything is set- the date, the dress, the time, everything is perfectly synchronized but the moment you reach the spot everything changes. You think he would be romantic, talk about something that he has never said before but as usual he talks about the new software he has downloaded on his phone or the new game he loves these days, and he keeps going on.
– This New Year party is your first night out with friends in some club rather than being at your home or theirs. And you want to make a memorable attempt this night by getting drunk, you fill yourself up with booze expecting you will have loads of fun, but what happens is that you puke all around, get drowsy, cry or laugh out loud at things which might not bother you when in your senses and finally doze off.
– You being a desi-girl (going by the kind of movies, songs and serials you like) land up in a house-party where nothing makes sense to you. The songs are just noisy, food not that great, your friends or boyfriend gets in conversation with someone you don’t know and yes, your night is ruined. All that you can think of at such times is to get back to your house where you lie on your couch and watch something entertaining.
