Weddings that were done by ultimate jugaad this year
Every wedding in the family brings gala time for everyone. Wedding means masti, fun and a lot of memories but the biggest memory of this year in every wedding was Demonetization. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s demonetization came as a storm for every couple, who were supposed to tie the knot this year. Here seven couples who did ultimate jugaad to go ahead with their matrimonial; funtions.
Indian weddings are known for their big fat budgets and expensive gifts but this time, Prime Minister Narendra Modi changed the scenario. Ban on old notes of 500 and 1000 left Indian couples with bare hands and inclined them do some jugaad for which Indians are known for. Many weddings had to be postponed but others went ahead with their lower downing their budgets or opting for online services.
Here is the list of couples who made their marriage memorable:-
- A couple from Surat went ahead with their marriage function and restricted their budget to Rs.500
Surat couple dropped their plans for a grand wedding and reduced their wedding budget to Rs 500. Guests were presented with tea and water only. Nothing lavish was there!
- A couple from Tirupati asked their guests to give them blessings via Paytm and Amazon
Indian weddings are incomplete without gifts. Triupati resident A Parthasarthy found himself in a stake after his card printer refused to accept 500 and 1000 notes or any other mode of payment. He is a designer by profession made his own e-invite which highlighted that couple will happy to accept blessings through Paytm, Amazon etc.

- Couple who opt for card machines at their wedding reception
In one of the Indian weddings guests were bounded to give shagun via swiping the cards, and couple was holding the machine to accept the shagun
- Couple had their wedding through funding from entire village
The Bagal family’s wedding function was saved because of a crowd funding effort by their village. Each and every person tried to withdraw cash from ATMs and banks and contributed.
- Mathura couple who went cashless
Two couples in Mathura went cashless in their marriage. They made all the payments through cheque and bank transfer. Even panditji to caterer all of them were presented cheques.
- Couple who hired ubercabs for their wedding
Delhi resident Gaganpreet called himself unfortunate that he has to get married during the cash crunch. So, he decided to book uber cabs for wedding works.
- Couple who un-invited their guests
Resident of Delhi Yuvraj is also a victim currency ban. Unfortunately, he uninvited his guests and tied knot with limited gathering of friends and family.
