Delhi will soon get first human library: Here you can borrow people instead of books
Human Library is coming to Delhi: Real People, Real Conversations
First Human Library Event will be organised in Delhi on June 18, 2017 from 2 pm till 7 pm. After cities like Mumbai, Indore and Hyderabad, the National Capital is the fourth city to host the event. In this event, you can loan real people for 20 minutes to gain real life-experiences and the readers will be able to learn from their experiences. The event will showcase ‘Human Books’ from various categories like recovering drug abuser, solo traveller, history chronicler, among others.
This concept is pretty interesting and new for Delhi. Books are being replaced by humans. This concept was first introduced and started in Copenhagen, Denmark, by Ronni Abergel in 2000. The motive behind the concept was to enforce social change and encourage conversation around marginalised communities. Within 17 years, it has expanded to 80 countries all across the world.
People from all walks of life have been chosen based on their knowledge of the subject and their personal experiences. Many of them are known figures in their respective fields. The event will be held at Innov8 Co-working space in Connaught Place. The event is free for all and there is no entry charge. The sessions will be booked on first come, first serve basis. The event is expected to have a turnout of about 500-600 people.
