Balancing Act: Work, Home And Family!
Balancing Act: Work, Home And Family!
Frequently checking your work emails at home or taking your boss’s phone calls on weekends can sometimes create a problem for you.
You have already worked for an entire week without any rest and also you did not get any time to spend with your family.
So, if you will take your work home, it may ruin the good mood of your family members as they are eagerly awaiting to spend time with you on weekends. This is the only time of the week when they can communicate with you or share their problems. But all this cannot happen when you constantly receive calls on an outing with your family.
It sounds irritating right? If you are finding it more challenging than ever to juggle up with your office work and the rest of your life, then know that you are not alone. Now, I am sure you might be thinking what is the solution to it?
Here are some suggestions you can try to cope with your professional and personal life:
• Try to incorporate a downtime into your schedule: Figure out a specific time for your family and friends to get recharged.
• Drop activities that sap your time: Many people waste their time on unnecessary activities such as they get engrossed in office gossips and politics. So, rather than getting engrossed in chit chats, you can save your time and complete your work on time.
• Go for a walk: In a Jam- packed routine, it is hard to communicate with our loved ones. A good idea is to go on a walk with them after dinner.
“In my hectic schedule I usually don’t get time to spend with my spouse as she is also working. So, rather than making plans for the weekend, we fix up every Thursday’s as our date night and we make sure that we don’t cancel it. This way if something comes up on weekends, we don’t get irritated”, says Renuka Jha.
Bringing work home can also be hazardous for your health, as it can lead to frequent headaches and you can even suffer from insomnia, fatigue and stomach problems. This is because you tend to take on the extra pressure without respite.
“Work, home and family all go hand in hand and if an individual fails to tackle everything together that would definitely lead to health consequences such as frequent headaches. It is always advisable not to work outside of the working hours and of course you should rest aplenty”, says Dr. Rathi.
Being dedicated to your work is a good thing, but giving time to your family is equally important and for that you have to only shell out time. This not only ensures your good health but also facilitates you to work with energy for the entire week.
