Dr. Ghafar Ghayur, a plastic surgeon has found a way to uphold the Hippocretes Oath in war torn Afghanistan.
This is a country where wonds from bombs, bullets et all abound. Afganistan has always been riven by inter-tribal conflicts, many of them carried as blood vendettas over generations. This, still had some sort of semblance of order, if one may call it that.
However, since the invasion by the then U.S.S.R., things have just hit the fan. To repel the Russians, the U.S.A. gave covert support to Mujahiddin, who evolved into the Taliban. No sooner had the Taliban brought under control, the ISIS was born.
With all this fighting, the youngsters, and now people in their middle ages have never know peace.
All this fighting has also created business and commercial opportunities like never before, and a new class of super-rich Afghans has emerged. This class literally feeds off the war, benefiting from largesse of the Allied forces, government contracts, and it is alleged opium trade.
Dr. Ghayur, who is one of the few plastic surgeons here, always has a queue of both rich patients, wanting cosmetic surgery of various kinds, and poor patients requiring essential micro surgcial treatment.
Since there is no state support for treating the poor, Dr.Ghafur uses his profits from the cosmetic enhancement, or reduction as the case may be of the rich, to treat the poor.
