Review: Spice Fire One
Review: Spice Fire One
Recently, Spice Mobility introduced its fresh handset with Mozilla’s Firefox operating system, Spice Fire One Mi FX 1. It is the first phone by Spice which comes packed with Firefox OS and apps. While looking at the price tag, it will be available around 2.5k in smartphone market, in which, most of the brands have options of only feature phones. According to Spice and Firefox, the phone is launched for the first time smartphone users who want to migrate from their feature handsets.

While the phone is already introduced but many people are still curious to know the review of this new comer in the smartphone ranges. So, One World News checked the handset from top to bottom. Let’s have a look at the detailed review by our team.
Display
Well, Spice in this very low range is offering a 3.5 inches (480X 320 pixles) HVGA screen with capacitive touch. The touch performance is good. User will definitely not feel that his phone has worse touch than any other. Slightly down the screen, a touch button is available which takes back to the home screen. The display quality is better according to the price in which it comes. User can watch videos easily and also playing mobile games on this 3.5 inches screen is better than those small screen feature phones.

Camera
1.3 MP rear camera is what one could expect in this price range, but installing a front VGA camera is out of the concept. Without good lights there is no use of the front camera and also it works slowly. Instead of offering a front VGA camera, Spice could have done well with the rear camera, because users like good photos not multi cameras.
Performance
Now coming up to the performance check, Spice Fire One runs on 1 GHz processor which goes good with the videos, music, games and internet browsing. But sometimes due to less internal memory, you could experience hurdles while processing. The one major issue is that you cannot transfer your apps to SD card but on this the Firefox team justifies that all the apps for Firefox OS are very low in size which can allow a user to download most of the apps.
The hands on experience
Operating System
Most remarkable feature of Spice Fire One is its Operating System, Firefox. The OS looks very similar to the Android’s user interface but in many points it goes to different way. For menu, you just have to slide left from the home screen and all apps will be visible to you. Downloading apps is similar to any other operating system. Firefox is offering its own App Market naming as ‘Marketplace’.
The first thing which anyone would be expecting is the Mozilla Firefox Browser and the expectation goes nowhere as browser is itself available on the homescreen. The user just have to touch once to open this multi tabs browser. The shortcuts for basic settings is similar to Android. Sliding down will make you aware of the latest notifications and would also allow to start/stop Bluetooth, Airplane Mode, Wifi and also a shortcut to settings.
Whatsapp is the basic preference of any smartphone user but in Spice Fire One the user cannot install whatsapp’s official app. But also Firefox does not disappoints the customers and offers inbuilt app ‘ConnectA2’. The users can register in this app and after that one can chat with his/her whatsapp contacts.
Rajeev Makhija also comes to experience
The Spice Fire One is powered by 1400 mAh battery which offers a good backup. For connectivity purpose, it supports dual SIM, both 2G. It can maximum connect on EDGE and for better internet browsing it supports Wifi connection. Sound quality is also fine.
In the box you will find the handset, a charger with detachable USB cable, an earphone and a silicon cover to protect it from scratches. The bonus point is that Spice is also offering a 4GB SD card with the handset. What more can anybody expect in this very low price range? But we hope that both the brands come with another superfine Smartphone, not against feature phones this time but for the users who are already using smartphones.
To know more about this Firefox handset, many tech buddies came to the event at Lalit Hotel, Delhi. The veteran in the field, Rajeev Makhija also came to introduce the Spice Fire One.
