Microsoft Lumia 638: Affordable 4G
After the launch of the Microsoft Lumia 535, the first Lumia phone sans Nokia, Microsoft has launched the Lumia 638, India’s cheapest 4G enabled mobile phone. Priced at a meagre Rs. 8,299, the Lumia 638 is bound to turn heads.
The price is not at all that makes it special. The phone is packed with features and quality and the 4G capability is just the cherry on top. This budget friendly phone sports a 4.5-inch 480x854p (FWVGA, 218ppi) ClearBack LCD display and is powered by a 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor. To keep things running smoothly, the Lumia 638 has 1GB of Ram and 8GB or internal storage which can be expanded up to 128GBs with the use of a microSD card. The Lumia 638 is also backed up by an 1830mAH battery.
The Lumia 638 is powered by the Windows Mobile 8.1, the latest OS in the Windows Mobile lineup and has onscreen keys for Home, Back and Search instead of hardware keys. This is a common feature present in all Windows 8.1 phones.
The camera on the Lumia 638 is pretty basic, 5 MP with no flash. Also, there is no front facing camera.
The Lumia 638 makes it up with the wide array of connectivity options that it supports. The phone supports 4G TD-LTE (support for Indian bands), Bluetooth 4.0, 3G, Wi-Fi, and A-GPS. The phone also includes ‘SensorCore’, low-power motion sensing for fitness apps.
The phone comes with polycarbonate design with changeable shells available in matte black and white colors and the company is also offering freebies on select networks.
