Ice age during Jurassic period was caused due to volcanic event: study
According to a study, a large – scale volcanic event during the Jurassic period may have caused the ice- age that took place on Earth around 170 million years ago.
The researchers have also found the evidence of a large and abrupt cooling of earth’s temperature during the Jurassic period that lasted millions of years.
The cooling of the environment coincided with a large- scale volcanic event- called the North Sea Dome.- that restricted the flow of ocean water and the associated heat that was carried by it from the equator to north pole.
