In a bold article, NASA’s chief Charles Bolden has questioned and critisized USA’s policy of send American astronouts on Russian Soyuz space shuttles.
Citing figures that the U.S. Congress has given more than $ 1 Billion to Russia since 2010 to send it’s astronouts to the International Space station, he claims that this money would be better spent in reviving America’s shuttle program instead.
He underscored his argument using the analogy “It’s as if we keep ordering expensive takeout because we haven’t yet set up our own kitchen — only, in this case, the takeout meals are costing us hundreds of millions of dollars,” in a editorial in Wired magazine.
