This update has brought about a ray of hope for the owners of the ageing iPhone 4s and the iPad 2. The older devices running on the iOS platform faced major speed and connectivity issues ever since updating to the iOS 8.0.1 which was released about a month ago, thus crippling many devices.

The 8.1.1 update includes bug fixes, improves the overall stability of the iOS device and most importantly, performance improvements for the older devices. Apple has not really elaborated on how they were actually able to achieve this. The update also resolves problems with the iCloud Drive and other apps such as iWork for iOS. iOS 8.1.1 also includes fixes to WiFi, Battery Life and Bluetooth problems that were present in iOS 8.

“Well, I’m just hoping it does as they say, otherwise, my iPhone 4s will end up as a disappointment in my pocket. I really don’t wish to use my phone like this, as the lag is something I am not really used to. My reason for going for the iPhone 4s was the smooth interface and high performance that it delivered back in the day. I really pray apple nails it with this update.” Quoted Tejvir, an engineering student living in Pune.

The update can be downloaded over the air through “Settings> General> Software Update” and has become a must download for older devices running the iOS 8 and later, due to the significant problems being faced by users.
