Seafood Starter Recipes: How to Perfectly Prepare Crispy Beer Batter Fish and Chips at Home

This classic dish hails from Britain; the fish is beer battered with incredible flavor, served with these delicious and flaky chips. This dish is great for the people who are starting their journey with seafood and it can be easily made at home with the right ingredients and using the proper techniques. Ingredients
For the Beer Batter:

• These ingredients include the following: 1 cup all-purpose flour.
• 1 unit alcohol – lager/ale
• 1 teaspoon of baking powder
• 1/2 teaspoon salt

For the Fish:
• 1 lb white fish fillets (cod, haddock or tilapia)
• Other ingredients such as salt and pepper should also be added to the recipe depending on the taste.
• All-purpose flour: 1 cup for dredging

For the Chips:
• 4 large potatoes
• Salt to taste

For Frying:
• Vegetable oil

Preparation
1. Prepare the Chips:
o Put the potatoes in water before proceeding to peel and slice them thickly.
o After preparing the potato into strips, it should be rinsed in cold water for about 30 minutes with the intention of reducing the starch content.
In a deep-fryer, heat oil to 350°F (175°C) .
o Transfer the potato strips to a colander and let the excess oil drain off them while you pat them dry. Fry the potato strips until they golden and crispy.
o Spoon the taco mixture onto paper towels, then sprinkle with salt.

2. Prepare the Fish:
oTreatment: Sprinkle some salt and pepper on the fish fillets.
o Season the fillets and then dredge through flour to remove excess flour.
o In a large mixing bowl, use a wooden spoon to mix the flour and beer together with the baking powder and salt just until combined.
o Place each fillet into the beer batter and cover them uniformly with the mixture.

3. Fry the Fish:
o Heat about 1/2 inch of oil on the bottom of a deep fat fryer or large saucepan to 375fl (190°c).
o(^The battered fish fillets should be fried until crispy and golden brown taking approximately 4-5 minutes on each side.
o The fried prawns are to be drained on paper towels to get rid of any excess oil.

Serving
