Visionary Designer
Ace designer Donatella Versace was a stunner at the recently concluded Milan Fashion Week 2016. The autumn winter collection consists of neatly cut dresses and sportswear. Also khaki blazers and fish net tights cut for the new generation fashion conscious men and women. “I always take inspiration from today’s youth who are bold and ready to experiment. This collection is a tribute to them,” said Versace, the 60 year old designer. She always wanted to reach to the young audience and she knew it is their world. “I wanted to make it affordable for them to buy a piece of Versace style. “My brand was and still is about the sophisticated women who are fearless and ready to experiment.”
Her collection is dedicated to strong woman. She dresses some of the most powerful women of the world. She said, I cannot change the world, but I can change the world through my creative ideas. For me the icon is singer Lady Gaga. She is fearless, bold and ready to experiment. She even gives tops while making clothes for her. And she is very easy to get along.” Versace said.
She always takes her models into confidence. She discuss them while fitting session and after the show too. “I wanted to know their feeling about the clothes they were wearing what was the reaction from the audience. Lately I found Gigi Hadid very good as a model though there was some malfunction at the Milan Fashion Week she managed it well and everybody appreciated it.”
Today Versace clothes look loud but not for shock value with their billowing ball gowns and gimmicky, fetish straps, but at the same time wearable. The whole collection is inset with invisible zips giving the designer a chance to deconstruct the outfits. Like earlier too this time also the collection has been a return to bold colour and pattern, to an unapologetic sexiness and decoration.
Donatella is now assisted by her daughter Allegra. Just 20 Allegra is taking keen interest in every department of the brand. “After all mom is aging and already an icon. Being a proud daughter I hope I could keep the flag high for ever,” Allegra said.
