MastaMic- Boxing with Beats
Beat boxing, as the term says, has nothing to do with boxing, we often hear about, but it is something that is more about creating beats with your mouth. The wonder part of this art is that one can hardly differentiate between disco beats and beats that come from a person’s mouth. A. Kameshwari from One World News in conversation with one of the best Beat-Boxers Mitya Burmistrov, aka Masta Mic, who shares his thoughts on his life, about himself and his art.
What is your inspiration?
My inspiration is my point of view – I see things, the way I want to see them. And the way is unique, usually positive and emotional. So, a ruined tree can become a love song, a stressful visit to granny – a rock anthem.
Have you taken some sort of classes for this?
Nope, I haven’t taken any sort of training for this. All that I do is only LBY! (Learn by yourself method, projected in 1922 in the Soviet army)
How many shows have you performed in?
It is hard to tell how many shows I have performed in. It has been countless number of times, from my graduate school party to Olympic Games in Canada, but the most meaningful gigs are all in the future.
What is the best compliment you have received till now?
I feel honoured if my music somehow heels a person’s life, relationships with a girl or just inspires and brings a smile;it is always a pleasure to hear such compliments.
How has been your journey so far?
My journey has been unpredictable and I like it! It’s hard to tell you what and how my journey has been, but whatever it is, I have always enjoyed it and would enjoy it further too.
How long it has been for you in this career?
I have been into Beat-Boxing for seven years now, and since two years I have been into writing/producing songs as well.
When did you start?
In childhood, I listened to good music like Led Zeppelin, Metallica, Genesis, Black Sabbath, and Kai Metov and used to beat the bottle of water like a drum when my brother played guitar. Then, at that age of 10 maybe, I wrote my first song, which my brother used as a hat-ballad in his rock group’s shows.
Tell us something about your struggling period?
Any struggle, depression or a weak state of soul – is nothing more, than a big boss before the next level. It’s like in a Dendy game, you know?
As a child, what were your plans and how much have they changed?
I wanted to play music and be unique and have fun, now it’s 99% the same. The only percentleft is a lot of funwhich is not work at all.
What has been your family’s reaction in your total journey?
My family has been a great support ever since; they have supported me and sometimes have even given me ideas that were great.
What is your aspiration?
I want to share as many bright and powerful ideas and melodies with the world as possible.
Tell us something about your worst experience?
Well, worst experience was when I ate three packs of chips and drank two bottles of wine three months ago. Sometimes, we are too funny to handle our own body.
