One of the projects that he has handled is Mardaani and other upcoming movie projects are Tamasha, Udta Punjab and TV project is ‘Lajwanti’ wherein a lot of actors from Delhi have got a chance.
How do you tackle thoughts of people who want to make directly to the Bollywood?
After making six pack abs, every model thinks he is an actor and so is the case with girls. They obviously can try for it but it is a rule that people who have followed short-cuts, their careers have ended soon. So, it is important to hone acting skills along with keeping your body fit because if you become an actor your life is as long as your age but modelling is a short term career wherein you are under limelight till you are fit and young.
People with strong back-ups get their break quite quickly, is that true?
Well, it is true to an extent and that is why most often we see an actor’s son or daughter as lead in the movie. However, times are changing and now we see even new people acting in a good banner movie as leads. All those who have talent would definitely succeed may be slowly but they would.
What is acting according to you?
Whatever we face in real life, all that you have to do is add some more of emotions to it, tone up your voice and take care of the camera angles, as per the directions of the director. Some are born actors and some become an actor through either courses or by doing theatre because through such methods a person develops confidence to face the camera which is really important.
Did you ever aspire to be an actor?
I also wanted to be an actor but when I entered the industry I was called duplicate of Shahrukh Khan. So, I decided to start something of my own which gets me recognition in the industry. I did not have any qualification to be a director or something, so I planned to become a coordinator and a lot of other established people from same field extended a hand to help me. So, the moment I got into it, I developed an interest and here I am.
Tell us something about your struggling period?
There are ups and downs everywhere. I was doing a serial where I had a bad experience. I had too many hopes from it but nothing worked out and some crazy things happened which broke me down. I never want to do a work wherein I feel that I am doing something wrong, so I did happen to feel that during this serial experience. Struggle in Mumbai is quite normal. People might know you well but at the same moment you can happen to have no money at all in your pockets. So, keeping yourself positive at such moments is very important.
What would be Karma Kola for upcoming actors?
This movie is a learning period for everyone who wants to make it big in future. This is a small step that would take them further to big doors. People should take opportunities in which they believe and think would prove out to be a good step but yes, understand the industry before just jumping into it.
What do you think about the concept?
The concept is very real and touching. I wish no one goes through this phase but unfortunately it is the truth which cannot be denied. Pravin Narain Agarwal has chosen a tough topic to express a social message which is very important for waking up people against any such immortal ways.
How did you choose the right candidate?
The topic is real so we wanted people from the real crowd itself. We searched for people who understand the topic really well and can feel it.
Who do you feel should be the target audience for this film?
I think the target audience should be the youth because they are our future. In country like ours, making people understand such a concept is a tough task because hardly people here take the blame on their own self. So, once the youth gets infected with this message, it would start to spread across.
Do you think this can make a change?
Yes, a small movie is a very small step towards making a change but at least we took a step. So, definitely we would be successful in putting across what we want.
Praveen sir’s team is quite dedicated, so they will be successful in what they aim. I wish him all the best for the documentary.
Any advice for the people who want to be actors?
Know the basics of the industry and do not take a short cut. Keep yourself fit and hon your skills. Stepping into industry without any knowledge is of no use.
