London based Melisa Odabash is one of the most famous lingerie designer in the world. Vogue magazine even called her collection the “Ferraris of swimwear”. Born and brought up in California (USA) she shifted her base to London because according to her London is one of the great cities of the world. She has been credited with bringing high fashion into swimwear with contemporary ranges including beachwear, jewelelry, accessories, and ready to wear. She was awarded the designer of the world in 2014.

How she has started as a designer?
My carrier started as a lingerie model in Milan. After modelling for five years I started designing swim wear and selling to the shops in Milan. My brand got international recognition when it was featured in an American fashion magazine. Victoria Secret liked my collection and in 1998 my zebra print swim wear was in the catalogue of the famous brand.

What is the motto of your brand?
My brand is a luxury product and my customers like to wear it on beach as well as in the bar. My emphasis is on elegance. I have been designing more than a decade and I know what a woman is looking for from me.
You are considered as the best swimwear designer among the lot. How come?
I think my clients feel confident in my swim wear. Women feel insecure in swim wear and if you can make them comfortable on the beach you have won.
Your inspiration comes from?
I am a frequent traveller and my inspirations come from travelling.
What about the latest venture?
I have launched mastectomy swimwear line with breast cancer charity Future Dreams. Former Olympic gymnast and ambassador for charity Jacque Beltrao influenced
me in this venture. We had a long discussion about the product.
