The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has emerged as the top recipient of donations, with a whopping Rs 6,060 crore in electoral bonds, constituting 47% of the total donations. The Trinamool Congress (TMC) came in second, with Rs 1,609.50 crore (12.6%), followed by the Congress with Rs 1,421.9 crore (11.1%). The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) received Rs 683 crores in donations, with 80% of it coming from electoral bonds.
The BJP’s massive donation haul is likely due to its strong presence in the country and its ability to attract big-ticket donors. The party’s donation total is more than the combined total of the next six parties, including the Congress and the TMC. The BRS, on the other hand, has done well in terms of donations, considering it is a regional party.
