Violent protests have started in Gujarat’s Saurashtra region, and the reason cited for these protests were against the thrashing of four Dalit men by a self-styled vigilante group last week on the allegations of cow slaughter in Una town.
The angry community had stones, torched buses and further held rallies across the region to protest against this incident. The police resorted to a lathicharge to disperse the demonstrators.
This incident took place last week, when four men were tied, stripped and trashed by a cow vigilante group from Gujarat. However, three of the attackers were arrested by the police after the footage was out, which they have uploaded on various social media sites as a warning, went viral.

Now the community has staged a demonstration outside the District Collector’s office, and has also demanded a strict action against those who are involved in these types of activities against the communities.
The community has further threatened to stop carrying away dead animals from the towns and villages, which they did traditionally.
Anandiben Patel the Chief Minister of Gujarat has ordered a CID probe in this alleged assault on Dalit community members and have also announced a set up a special court for the “speedy” trial of the case.
In addition, Patel has announced that the state government will bear all the medical expenses of these seven Dalit youths, who were injured in this entire incident and are also undergoing treatment at various government hospitals in Una, Junagadh and Rajkot.
