According to a report, government has extended the term of UK Sinha. Now he will stay Sebi Chief till March 1st, 2017.
Interestingly, with his latest extension he has become the second largest serving cheif of Sebi after D.R Mehta, who served Sebi for seven years from 1995 to 2002.
During his tenure, sebi has taken a lot of steps to safeguards the rights of investors and overall marketplace. In fact, number of steps were also taken to keep a check on any kind of manipulation.
UK Sinha was initially serving Finance Ministry and then he became head UTI mutual funds and then finally started serving sebi.
