Edappadi K. Palaniswami, Minor Ports Minister informed the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly that the State Government has not yet received the DPR (Detailed Project Report) of the project from the Centre. The delay in reporting is the reason that Minor Ports Minister is unable to say whether it would affect the locals or not.

The Minister was answering to the questions raised by S. Rajesh Kumar (Killiyoor), Congress MLA asking that the project would affect the livelihood of the locals.
“To our information, the port would be set up with groynes and it would be commercial. But complete details would be known only after the DPR is made available to us,” Mr. Palaniswami said.
