Supreme Court’s sharp remarks on controversial Bull Fest
Supreme Court on Tuesday made sharp remarks over Jallikattu, the controversial bull fighting sport by saying it might be 5,000 years old but it would continue or not it would be decided legally.
The apex court told Tamil Nadu, that it should be allowed because it is a centuries old tradition, the court in a statement said “In 1899 , ten thousands girls below 12 years of age were married so should we allow it today just because it was a tradition.”

Currently, the top court is hearing petitions by animal rights against the centre’s decision this year to allow to bull fight in the state Tamil Nadu. Earlier, the court in January issued a notice to centre for lifting the ban on Jallikattu.
Now the final hearing on the case will begin on August 23. Notably, over the years, dozens of people have lost their lives in this Jallikattu event.
