Supreme Court retains the decision of restricting ban on liquor in Kerala
The Supreme Court retains the decision of new liquor policy in Kerala restricting sale and use of liquor at bars in five star hotels only.
The judgment announced by the bench of Justice Vikramajit Sen and Shiva Kirti Singh, which means that hundreds of restaurants and bars in the state cannot sell liquor.
The group of petitions by the Kerala Bar Hotel Association and others had contended that the new strategy will create discrimination in comparison to other hotels.
The liquor policy restricting the sale and use of liquor at the bar benefited 24 five-star hotels in the state and it was upheld by the Kerala High Court on March 31.
