Students to demand justice for Rohith Vermula with tent made of cloth

After the University of Hyderabad officials pulled down the tents erected on campus in memory of a Dalit student Rohith Vemula, now the protestors have decided to make a new tent by stitching the clothes donated by the University’s student and faculty.

The blanket which was used by Vermula while agitating against his and four others’ suspension, will be the centerpiece of the tent.

The leader of the UoH Joint Action Committee for Social Justice, Y Bhaskar said that this will be the symbol of solidarity between the students and teachers in the fight to achieve justice for Rohith.

The student members of the Joint Action Committee (JAC) have also reached to other people through social media in a bid to collect clothes for the initiatives.

The University has demolished the tents erected at the shopping complex on May 28, triggering protests from the students.
