On Wednesday the Finance Minister Arun Jaitley announced special assistance measures for the state of Andhra Pradesh, he said that it will give the state an amount equivalent to that of the special category status. Stating that the special assistance measures for Andhra Pradesh will be in form of the externally aided projects.

Jaitley further added that the state will also be granted with two tax concessions. Also the Polavaram irrigation project was declared as the National Project and the Centre would meet with its cost But there was no announcement on giving special status to the state.
