Sikkim has become India’s first fully organic state. Approximately 75,000 hectare cultivated land has been converted into organic farm land.
According to reports , the state had already achieved this status in December but an formal announcement will be made on January 18 by PM Modi in Gangtok.
Well, its a big achievement for the state because it was already decided in year 2003 to convert it into an organic state.
Organic cultivation is free of chemical and pesticides and will help to maintain harmonious relation with a complex series of ecosystem.
