Shillong blooms with cherry blossoms
Bringing a piece of Japan to India, the Meghalaya government has planeted more than 2 thousand cherry blossom trees around the Umiam lake in Shillong.
These trees are now in blossom, lighting up the area with their white and pink flowers. The flowers only last a couple of weeks, but for the Japanese, just to see them bloom is like a trip to heaven.
Now, with the help of the Japanese, the Meghalaya Government and the National Institute of Bio-Resources and Sustainable Development, Indians too can enjoy this little trip to heaven.
