From tomorrow consumers would have to dole out an additional 0.5 percent cess for various services and that would take the total service tax to 15 percent.
Notably, in the last budget, the total service tax was raised to 14 percent from 12.36 percent.
With the addition of the Krishi Kalyan Cess of 0.5 percent, the total service tax will go up to 15 percent from 14.5 percent.

This means services such as internet, phone connection, restaurant bills, train, air travel and insurance will attract the Krishi Kalyan Ces, which was earlier announced in Union Budget.
Notably, KKC is aiming at improving agriculture in the country and for financing schemes in the sector.
