It has been suspected that more than 40 people have thrown stones at the security forces during these protests, and were later detained but some of them were released after questioning.
Baramulla, which is located a little over 55 km from Jammu and Kashmir capital Srinagar has usually remained an epicentre of some of the violent protests in the valley since Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist Burhan Wani was killed by the Indian forces in July 8 this year.
There had been two major attacks by the terrorists; one was in August when two Army Jawans and a driver were killed. Also, earlier this month, terrorists have struck the battalion headquarters of 49 Rashtriya Rifles in what was described as the “shoot and scoot” attack. In this attack, a BSF jawan was killed, while another was injured.
Protests have scaled down in recent days after a massive crackdown by the police led to thousands of arrests.
