SC to hear plea for public body in appointing Judges today
The Supreme Court will be hearing today, a petition which is seeking the formation public, transparent body, to be neither controlled by the government nor any of the judiciary and this too for the appointment of judges of the apex as well as high court of India.
The bench comprising of Chief Justice of India T.S Thakur had agreed to hear the National Lawyers Campaign for Judicial Transparency and Reforms, which is represented by advocates A.C. Philip and Mathew J. Nedumpara.

The plea mentioned that, this mechanism of appointing the Judges, independent of the executive and the judiciary, was been ‘killed’ even before it has been allowed to take birth by a judgment in the NJAC case.
It also said that, the judgment has hurt the entire concept of democratic legitimacy in the matter of the appointment of Judges to the higher judiciary.
