Rahul Gandhi gifts rose, flag to Rajnath Singh as Parliament deadlocks over Adani, Soros issues
In an unusual gesture amid ongoing Parliament disruptions, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi presented a red rose and the national flag to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday. The Parliament session has been marked by heated debates between the opposition and the BJP, including allegations of collusion involving Sonia Gandhi and businessman George Soros.
A video shared captured the moment when Singh initially ignored another Congress MP offering the rose and flag but later accepted them from Rahul Gandhi, who approached him with a smile. Several other opposition MPs, including Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and members of allied parties like the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and DMK, also waited outside Parliament to hand roses and flags to BJP lawmakers.
The opposition explained the gesture as a symbolic appeal for the government to ensure the smooth functioning of Parliament and allow discussions on key issues, including allegations against Adani Green Energy. Congress MPs also carried placards reading, “Don’t let the country be sold.”

The Adani Group has denied allegations of bribery, with Gautam Adani stating his company often faces challenges and that such accusations only make them stronger.

This session has also seen the opposition filing a historic no-confidence motion against Rajya Sabha Chairperson Jagdeep Dhankhar, accusing him of partisan behavior. The motion, tabled Wednesday morning, led to further protests and an adjournment. However, the motion is unlikely to succeed due to procedural requirements and the opposition’s lack of numbers to remove the Chairperson.
The no-confidence motion follows BJP allegations of links between Congress leader Sonia Gandhi and George Soros, which the BJP claims harm national security. The Congress has refuted these claims, dismissing them as distractions to avoid discussing the Adani issue.
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra called the allegations ridiculous and accused the BJP of diverting attention from corruption concerns. Opposition MPs had also staged protests earlier, carrying shoulder bags with caricatures of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Gautam Adani, after the government refused to debate the Adani allegations.
The session remains deadlocked as tensions between the opposition and the ruling party continue to escalate.
