Finally President Pranab Mukherjee has given his assent to the Aadhaar law, which will now empower the centre to mandate that every citizen should have 12 digit unique identity number for accessing government services and benefits.
As per reports, within two three months Aadhaar Act 2016 will come into force. Official revealed that law would be implemented only after rules listing out the details of the enrolment process were issued otherwise they will stop issuing Aadhaar numbers.
The government had already moved the Aadhaar bill as money bill in Parliament to ensure that the opposition’s majority in the Rajya Sabha did not stand in its way.
