Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana will be launched in Odisha today
The Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana which aims at providing LPG cooking gas to women from BPL households free of cost will be launched in Odisha today in the Sambalpur region.
The Oil Minister Dharmendra Pradhan along with Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram are scheduled to flag it off.
If the reports are to be believed then, this scheme is planned to increase the number of LPG customers in Odisha from 39 lakh to 80 lakh by the end of December 2018.

This scheme has already been launched regionally by the Centre in Rajasthan, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh.
According to this scheme, the central government is providing financial assistance of 1,600 rupees to every eligible BPL candidate to buy an LPG connection.
A budget of 8,000 crore rupees has been set up by the government for further distribution of LPG connections to 5 crore BPL families by the year 2019.
