This drone attack comes days after Israel claimed a significant victory by killing Yahya Sinwar, the leader behind Hamas’s October 7, 2023, attack on Israel that sparked the ongoing Gaza conflict. Sinwar was killed in a gunfight with Israeli forces on Wednesday after a year-long hunt. His death was announced publicly on Thursday.

In response to Sinwar’s death, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei stated on Saturday that the loss would not weaken the Axis of Resistance. He emphasized that the movement, which includes Hamas, Lebanon’s Hezbollah, Yemen’s Houthi rebels, and Shi’ite groups in Iraq and Syria, will continue opposing Israel and U.S. influence in the Middle East. Khamenei added that even with the death of prominent leaders, Hamas and its allies remain resilient and active.
The incident highlights rising tensions in the region, as Israel and its adversaries, backed by Iran, continue their confrontations.
