Biren Singh takes Oath as CM of Manipur
Nongthombam Biren Singh took oath on Wednesday morning as the BJP’s first Chief Minister in Manipur. Many prominent leaders from politics were congratulating him on twitter some of the tweets are as follows:

Eight ministers took oath along with N. Biren Singh. Y Joykumar, who is an NPP MLA from Uripok took oath as the Deputy Chief Minister. He was the former DGP of Manipur and he is also considered as the right hand of former Chief Minister of Manipur Okram Ibobi Singh. The other ministers who took oath at the ceremony are Th Biswajit of the BJP, L Jayantakumar of the NPP, Karan Shyam of LJP, L Haokip of NPP, N Koyisi of NPP, Losie Dikho of NPF and Th Shyamkumar who won on Congress ticket from Andro.Shyamkumar recently absconded to the BJP.
After the declaration of assembly elections 2017 of five states, BJP has formed their government in Manipur for the first time. BJP has also scripted history in Uttar Pradesh by claiming 325 seats. Notably, the CM of Uttar Pradesh will be declared on 16th March 2017.
Although Congress was the largest party in Manipur with 28 MLAs and BJP had 21 seats. And the BJP got the support of MLAs from NPP, NPF, LJP to form the government.
Biren Singh was a former Congressman who joined the BJP last year. Before joining politics he was a national level football player was part of a Durand Cup winning Border Security Force team in 1981.
BJP were claiming support in order to form the government in Manipur as well as in Goa.
On Tuesday, Governor Najma Heptullah said, “I don’t know what allegations the Congress is making. In my 37 years in Parliament and 17 in the chair, even when I was a part of the Congress, I have had to work with both Congress and non-Congress governments. Nobody has ever alleged that II was biased or unfair. Even the Congress party has never complained. They know that I am a straight-forward person and that I have always gone by the book.”
