Authorities have again snapped the mobile telephony services in Kashmir on Friday, but this is except the postpaid facility on state-run BSNL. It is showcased as a precautionary measure in a threat of fierce clashes after Friday prayers last week.
A police official said that, the services were snapped across the valley at midnight, this was done in order to maintain law and order and to further prevent rumor mongering.
As last Friday, the valley saw an intense clash between the protesters and some security forces at many places in the Valley after the prayers.
The clash took three people live and several other hundred were injured.
Kashmir Unrest
Mobile telephony services, except the BSNL postpaid, were the first to be snapped in the valley on July 15 after the violence following the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist Burhan Wani in an encounter in the south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on July 8.
The authorities had further snapped mobile internet facility in the entire valley on July 9.
While the postpaid services had been resumed on July 26, the incoming call facility was later restored on the prepaid numbers a day later.
However, the outgoing facility with these numbers continued to further remain barred.
Mobile internet also has continued to remain snapped for the 35th day on Friday.
