Mamta calls on Modi for flood relief
Different parts of India have recently experienced a spate of unseasonal rainfall, resulting in flooding, and loss of lives and property. Though Tamil Nadu is in maximum news due to flooding of the state capital Chennai, West Bengal has also suffered due to unprecedented rainfall.
In this context, the Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamta Banarjee met Prime Minister Narendra Modi, where she asked Modi for central funds for the state.
Mamta also demanded that the centre provides relief and funds for the people who had been affected by floods in West Bengal. The floods not only took 130 lives, it also affected the livelihood of hundred others and spoiled a huge majority of agricultural land.
The meeting lasted for half an hour and according to Mamta it was not a “political” meeting.
