NCP announces Ajit Pawar for Baramati, Maharashtra elections on November 20, results on November 23
For the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections, The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has announced its first list of candidates. NCP chief Ajit Pawar will be contesting from the family stronghold of Baramati, a seat that has been significant for the Pawar family for many years. The NCP is contesting these elections as part of the ruling alliance, Mahayuti, which includes the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Shiv Sena faction led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.
The Maharashtra elections for all 288 assembly seats will take place in a single phase on November 20, 2024, with the results being declared on November 23. This announcement comes just after the Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde faction) released its first list of 45 candidates for the elections.

In Maharashtra Elections, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde will be contesting from the Kopri-Pachpakhadi Assembly constituency. Among other key candidates, Manisha Ravindra Waykar has been nominated for Jogeshwari (East), Suhas Dwarkanath Kande from Nandgaon, Pradip Shivnarayan Jaiswal from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (Middle), and Balaji Devidasrao Kalyankar from Nanded North. Additionally, Sada Sarvankar has been selected to contest from Mahim, where he will face Amit Thackeray, the son of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray.
During a recent meeting on October 18, the Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) proposed that Eknath Shinde be positioned as the chief ministerial candidate in the upcoming maharashtra election.

As election day approaches, both the ruling Mahayuti alliance, which includes the BJP, Shiv Sena (Shinde faction), and the Ajit Pawar-led NCP, as well as the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance, are ramping up their campaign efforts. The MVA consists of the Shiv Sena (UBT), the Sharad Pawar faction of the NCP, and Congress.
In the 2019 Maharashtra Assembly elections, the BJP secured 105 seats, the Shiv Sena won 56, and Congress obtained 44 seats. Previously, in 2014, the BJP had claimed 122 seats, with the Shiv Sena winning 63, and Congress securing 42 seats.
Meanwhile, the MVA has reportedly finalized its seat-sharing arrangement for the upcoming elections, with top leaders from the Shiv Sena (UBT) and Congress holding discussions late Tuesday night.
