LPG subsidy calculations defended by Govt.
The government has defended its calculations in the response to a report by a media channel that highlighted the concerns raised by the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) in the regard of the authenticity of its claims on dramatic savings in LPG subsidy.
The government has replied that, in this regard it has been clarified that an intensive exercise was being carried out for identifying the duplicate/ghost/fake/inactive domestic LPG connections as by April 1, 2015, 3.34 crore such connections were identified by the oil marketing companies [OMCs].

It also added that, as a result of the implementation of the mechanism of DBTL (PAHAL), it has become possible to further block these 3.34 crore LPG connections, as the subsidy were being transferred in the accounts of the people who were registered under PAHAL and which have been cleared after de-duplication exercise.
