‘India Skills Competition’ to be inaugurated by President Mukherjee today
The President Pranab Mukherjee will be inaugurating the first edition of the ‘India Skills Competition’ today, on the occasion of World Youth Skills Day in Delhi.
The occasion will also be marking the first anniversary of PM Narendra Modi’s ‘Skill India Mission’, which is there with an aim to train over 40 crore youth by 2022 in different skills.

Almost 4,820 candidates have till now registered to compete at thecompetition.
The event is organized by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and National Skill Development Corporation in order to select the best talent.
The person who will further lead India at biennial World Skills International Competition, which is been scheduled in Abu Dhabi in 2017.
At the last event organised at the Sao Paulo, Brazil, in August 2015, a team of around 29 candidates participated in 27 skills and had won 8 medallions of excellence for India.
