Government to penalize NGOs
Giving a warning to all the Non Governmental Organization (NGO’s) the Union Ministry stated that the government will reckon heavy penalty on the organizations which have not furnished annual income and expenditure statement for two continuous years.
In a notification, it said that such NGOs will have to face penalty, which is the ten per cent of foreign contributions received by them or 10 lakh rupees.

According to the records, less than 10% of 30 lakh registered NGO’s in the country file their annual income and expenditure statement.
Government has cancelled almost 15000 NGO’s registration under the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA).
