Delhi Metro Ride gets expensive from today: It’s ‘Painful’
Metro Fare Hiked by Rs 10
Travelling in Delhi Metro will be costlier from today as new fares have come into the force. From today the much- talked Delhi Metro fare hike has come into effect. Now, get ready to shell out extra Rs. 10 from your pocket. The hike, which comes five months within the last one, is affecting the mass of the people who travel beyond 5 km, while journeys falling in the 2-5 km distance slab will cost Rs5 more.

The hiked fare structure will be: up to 2 km—Rs10, 2 to 5 km—Rs20, 5 to 12 km—Rs30, 12 to 21 km—Rs40, 21 to 32 km—Rs50 and for journeys beyond 32 km—Rs60.
According to the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation’s (DMRC), Smart card users can enjoy 10% discount on their each ride. DMRC estimates users happen to be 70% of the metro’s total ridership and they will able to get an additional discount of 10% while travelling during off-peak hours that is from the beginning of services till 8 am, between 12 pm and 5 pm and from 9 pm to end of the services.
Delhi Metro Rail Corporation’s (DMRC) has made the announcement after, and they have refused to interfere in this matter because they are saying that it had recommended by the Fare Fixation Committee(FCC), which has introduced the steep hike and they can’t do anything in it.
The new fares would be applicable for five corridors- Blue, Red, Yellow, Green and Violet of the metro. But there will be no change in the fares of Airport Express Line (Orange Line).
