Anyone who is clean has no reason to oppose the move: Amit Shah

Hitting out at the parties, who are criticising the Centre’s demonetisation decision, BJP president Amit Shah on Thursday have said that they are only “exposing themselves” as anyone who is clean has no reason to oppose the move.

Addressing BJP’s Parivartan Yatra in Azamgarh, Shah has taken potshots at BSP Chief Mayawati and Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, asking why they were so worried.

While, comparing their condition to that of BJP leaders, who were all smiles since this decision has made, the BJP president said, “What are you all worried about? Look at BJP leaders, they are the same. They are all smiling because they have never even had any black money to begin with. Those bags (of money) that have been lying with you were turned into scrap by Modi overnight. Collected over the years, now it’s all gone).”

Shah has also compared the situation of the parties opposing demonetisation to that of cats, rats and snakes – otherwise the rivals – climbing onto one tree to save themselves during a flood, taking shelter together while further keeping an eye on the water.

Protest against demonetisation

The BJP leader’s remarks had come the day after West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee led a rainbow delegation, which comprised of Trinamool Congress, Aam Aadmi Party, Shiv Sena and Nation Conference to Rashtrapati Bhawan in order to protest against the decision to withdraw Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes.

With demonetisation creating many hardships for people in the middle of marriage and sowing seasons, the BJP chief has said Modi had on Thursday allowed the withdrawals up to Rs 2.5 lakh for weddings and up to Rs 50,000 for farmers. Moreover, farmers who have taken crop loans or have a kisan credit card can withdraw Rs 25,000 per week.

While, speaking about the various policy initiatives taken by the Modi government for the upliftment of poor and backward sections, Shah said an additional Rs 1 lakh crore had been released to UP every year, but the funds were not used for development of villages as SP leaders has usurped all the money.

These leaders, who further use to have tin shade houses five years ago have now converted them in bungalows, he claimed.

Shah further said that Akhilesh Yadav had no control over the mining and land mafias and his uncle gave them shelter, warning that if his party comes to power, none of them (land mafias) will be spared.
