The Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM), Pune and the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) of the Union ministry of earth science on has jointly launched an observational campaign in the New Delhi to understand various aspects of fog for its more accurate guess.
Such observations will improve the weather forecasting agencies potential of guessing strength and duration of fog.
It will make the lives of pilot easier in future once the IITM and IMD get appropriate result of fog prediction in next two to three years of time.
These measurements will form the foundation for understanding the some of the key questions on formation of fog and dispersion.
