A visit to Ghalib Ki Haveli

Tucked away in small lanes of Old Delhi’s Chandni Chowk, this place was the residence to the poet Mirza Ghalib for the time he lived in Delhi. The Haveli is a very small place that was converted into a museum a few years back.

A talk thechowkidar who sits outside the old place gave me a lot of additional information about this place. For instance, the haveli is not actually that small, a lot of it is owned by other people and it was only when the government changed that they tried to get back the land from the owners.

Ghalib Ki Haveli

For a person who loves Ghalib and appreciates his poetry, this place is heavenly. Even with just two rooms and a few things to see, this place has a charm to itself and one cannot stop but wonder how the poet must have lived his life there and what must have he thought while composing his finest work.
