70 injured in Assam Earthquake
The Assam earthquake on Wednesday killed two people and injured around 70. The earthquake measuring 6.8 at the Richter scale rocked eastern and north eastern parts of the country.
It also affected power supply, communications and rail services in some pockets in the region for a while. National Centre for Seismology in New Delhi said that the epicentre of the quake was located in Myanmar, 100 KM off the India-Myanmar border and its tremors were felt in Kolkata, Guwahati, Patna and Delhi.
The official Twitter handle of the Prime Minister Office said: “PM @narendramodi spoke to CMs of Assam, Nagaland & Manipur regarding the earthquake in the region.”
