Yes, you heard right a 13 year old boy named Dishant is selected for the National Bravery Award 2015 by the Indian Council for Child Welfare for saving his mother life.
The boy is elated and overwhelmed by the award. Dishant will receive a medal, certificate and cash prize by Prime Minister on Republic Day.
The incident took place on April 5 when Dishant was at his home with his mother Archana and younger brother Ryaan. His father Ravinder, a chartered accountant had left for his off, when a stranger visited the house as a acquaintance to Ravinder.
He was invited in and Archana went inside and called her husband. Ravinder spoke to the man but unable to recognize him and told to come him some another day.
The man then asked to use the washroom. When Archana was showing him the way, he took out a knife and put it on Archana’s neck.
He demanded all the cash and jewellery but Dishant throw the knife and both of them overpowered the stranger.
