Let’s celebrate the magic of Elizabeth Barrett Browning’s poems!
Elizabeth Barrett was one of the most prominent poets of the victorian era. She was born on 6th March, 1806. She was very popular in Britain and United States. She was born in County Durham and was eldest child of her parents and interestingly, she started writing poems at the age of 6.
Today is her 210th birthday and here we bring to you a very brief primer on a bold and brilliant talent.
- Elizabeth Barrett Browning became the first female poet ever to be considered for poet laureate.
- She was unbelievably well- read and according to husband she was self- taught in almost every respect.
- She got married to poet Robert Browning, who was extremely attracted to her poems and work.
