Ashok Vajapeyi, the Hindi poet who was awarded the Sahitya Akademi Award given by Sahitya Akademi,in 1994 has returned his award.
He feels that silence from the Prime Minister Narendra Modi light of the rising communal violence is not justified. He feels that being the PM of India, he should address this issue and do something to control the situation.
This step was performed after Nayantara Sahgal, the prominent writer and a recipient of this award gave it back as she was displeased with the current state of affairs.
