Vishwakarma Day also referred to as Vishwakarma Puja or Vishwakarma Jayanti is a significant hindu festival in honour of the God Vishwakarma who is considered as the divine architect of the world. Liberated from work, it is a day of devotion in many art-related occupations as they pray for fruitful endeavors in their crafts.

Vishwakarma Puja 2024 Date and Time: As per the calenders of 2024 Vishwakarma Puja will be celebrated on September 16 Monday. The day corresponds with the Kanya Sankranti or Bhadra Sankranti associated with the Bengali calendar. Sankranti moment will take place at 19:53, Indian Standard Time. This day has importance as per the Hindu calendar since it is the birth day of Lord Vishwakarma who is said to have constructed the divine city of Dwarka and also who is the divine architect of the world.

Significance of Vishwakarma Puja: The Vishwakarma Puja is celebrated by artisans and workers from all states of India and especially by the mechanical industries and architects. Lord Vishwakarma is considered as the god of creation, architecture and mechanical work. According to different beliefs, on this day, followers offer appreciation for their talents and seek the blessings of the god of success in their chosen arenas. The puja is particularly essential for workers who have tools and instruments for use in their duties since it is believed that bringing the machines to the shrine makes them function optimally.

Vishwakarma Puja Rituals
• Workspace Cleansing: Employee and craftsmen clean their workshops and polished tools and equipment used in their work. They are decorated with flowers and other colorful ornaments before the objects are covered with worship.

• Puja and Offerings: People set idols or pictures of Lord Vishwakarma in temporary structures known as pandals and pray to Him. There are special pujas to be performed all at factories, offices as well as workshops. Prices with sweets, fruits, or any other edible items are offered to the deity so that they can ask for a prosperous year ahead.

• No Use of Tools: Tools are worshipped and are not utilised after the ritual processes are done for the day. This is a sign of respect to the instruments, indicating the role the instruments were in the work and the importance given to its regular upkeep.
